On the coast of Playas de Rosarito, at the top of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, lies this residential project designed for direct interaction with the sea and its attractions.
ONNE is an apartment complex with studio flats from 50 to 80 sq.m. designed for people with a passion for the sea and water sports.
To emphasise the connection with the sea and to make the units of the complex visible on the façade, the apartments appear to extend outwards, extending into flared boxes composed of slabs and walls. In addition, the undulating geometry of the unit extensions allows the façade to follow the undulatory movement of the water.
The use of pigmented reinforced concrete as the primary construction material allows the project to integrate with the tones of the surroundings, giving the impression that the building emerges from the cliffs. The surfaces are exposed, seeking a pure, honest and locally expressive representation of the material, encouraging its mimesis with the context. In addition to this concept, the pool serves as a natural container for the rocky landscape, creating a transition between the building and its surroundings.
Internally, the spaces manifest the structural honesty of the project through exposed finishes and installations. They are open spaces with as few divisions as possible, ensuring adequate ventilation and lighting, as well as visual continuity towards the sea from all areas of the apartment.
