RKTB is currently developing a unique project in Crown Heights that combines market rate and affordable rental housing for a total of 54 units. Although restricted on a small corner site, the project maximizes the amount of floor area by cantilevering over portions of the adjacent building. Structurally innovative, large steel trusses were employed in order to achieve the cantilevers, a key feature of the overall design.
The building also capitalizes on its proximity to the nearby Botanic Gardens by offering views from its upper floors. This is accomplished by an expansion of the top floors in addition to a large wraparound glass bay that animates the corner. Building amenities include rooftop terraces, recreation rooms that the cantilevered portions provide, and a technologically advanced, automated, below-grade parking garage.
