Upon acquiring a property in the center of the biotechnology cluster in Princeton, New Jersey known as “Einstein Alley,” BMR’s marketing goal to update the interior and exterior aesthetic and technical infrastructure became a high priority to attract quality tenants.
BAM designed a fresh experience for visitors and tenants to reposition the one-story building as a state-of-the-art facility comprised of laboratory, manufacturing and office space. Starting with the drive onto the property, tenants and visitors see the newly designed landscaping, exterior lighting and signage. Visitors are welcomed by a 24’-0” long concrete and stainless steel partial height wall signage element. As they proceed towards the entrance, (15) electric blue resin panel fins, over two stories in height, come into view. These fins, stand tall to obscure the building’s existing blank metal skin and are embedded with a pattern that brings to mind DNA sequences. The matte panels glow in the natural rays of sunlight by day, and from LED uplight fixtures by night. The stainless steel channels supporting the DNA panels give a crisp back edge to contrast the translucent resin material. The building entrance is sheltered by a steel canopy, highlighted with frosted glass back lit signage, and framed by a floating frosted glass wall.
The new finish on the existing metal skin of the building and aluminum reveal trim applied to the exterior façade adds a modern aesthetic. Continuing into the public spaces, the lobby space, the building core and infrastructure were also upgraded.
BioMed Realty Trust is committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities and amenities for tenants at One Research Way. Completion of the renovation marks a major milestone in achieving this goal. BAM continues to work with BMR on this and other properties across the country.
