One Great St Helen’s is in the heart of the City of London’s Eastern Cluster and has been extensively refurbished and extended to provide a unique opportunity to establish a premium quality, self-contained headquarters in one of the world’s most connected business communities.
The building was originally completed in 1998 and designed by John Robertson Architects (JRA) for client Greycoat. In 2000 it won the BCO Award for Best Commercial Office in the Southeast Region. Twenty-five years later, JRA was appointed by the new owner to bring a fresh perspective to the building by sensitively retrofitting it in a way that respects its original design ethos.
The project retrofits 5000m2 of office space and provides a new entrance hall, evoking the experience of a boutique hotel’s entrance lobby, offering a spacious, luxurious welcome.
Flexible Use Class E permission has been achieved for part of the ground floor, allowing it to be used as future retail, café or restaurant. The former basement car park has been converted into high-quality end-of-trip facilities with cycle parking, showers, and changing rooms. A new naturally ventilated roof pavilion and landscaped roof terrace has been added at level 10, providing panoramic views of the evolving City skyline and promoting communal wellbeing and social interaction for occupiers.
