A building with an edge length of 60 x 60 x 60m is to be
planned on the peninsula of Sporenburg in Amsterdam.
The main subject of the design project is „living on the
waterfront“. Two slabs, one on the ground and one standing freely in the water
are facing each other on full length. The building in the water can be reached
via a bridge, boats can land underneath the building on its own landing stage.
The lower three floors of the second building contain a large public terrace. A
view on the surrounding area is given through the first building. Small shops
and cafés enliven the space.
In each case, three floors form a neighbourhood. A wide
access balcony, functioning as a communicative street within the building
encourages the contact among the residents. Large u-shaped and movable elements
contain sofas, tables, toys etc. Children use the space to play and clamour.
