The building emerges upon the dynamics of the Japanese handwriting. The ambiance of the street nurtures the object and the concept is built upon a movement.The Omotesando street is a vibrating place where everyone can see and be seen.It's a 13 storey building, plus a two level basement with 10 parking spaces. The entrance hall, souvenir shop and a temporary exhibition area are at the ground floor in a double height space. There are two public lifts and one freight elevator that access all the levels and a central emergency stair shaft that is the main structural element. The car parking access is through a freight elevator.The first floor is mainly a big exhibition room with an interior balcony with a view to the entrance hall below.On the 2nd floor are located one of the three urban balconys and the museum's administrative spaces. From the 3rd to the 10th floor are the several permanent exhibition rooms with a small exterior balcony on the 7th floor for relaxation. On the 11th floor is the runaway with a seating area and the backstage premises. The runaway is a double heigh interior/exterior space with a balcony above from where people can assist the fashion shows.On the 13th floor is the skybar with a counter and a small Japanese garden.The building exterior materials would be dark pigmented concrete with an aluminium and green glass panels facade. The structural concept is based upon a central concrete lift shaft with metallic slabs connected to the concrete exterior walls.
