The Omiros Building is poised to become one
of the most exciting structures in recent New Jersey history. The brainchild
of Dr. Paul Hriso, the building was designed by Stephen M. Kawalek, RA, PP of Kawalek+Kawalek
Architects, and incorporates monumental building-integrated artwork by
world-renowned artist Omiros.
Other
than Omiros’s unique, dynamic art pieces, notable features of the building
include a façade clad completely in imported Ambrosia White granite and
high-quality interior finishes throughout. The building will seek LEED certification based on the employment of
numerous “green” construction elements, including a
ground-source heat pump system for heating and cooling, also known as a
geothermal system. The
total area of the building equals 12,809 square feet, spread over four floors.
The first floor includes a 3-story lobby and a
single tenant space, along with mechanical space and parking for 10 cars. The
second and third floors are occupied by Dr. Hriso’s offices, and the fourth floor will incorporate three additional tenant spaces. All
floors are provided with two means of egress, accessible bathrooms and elevator
access. The building is designed to be fully equipped with the most modern fire
suppression, alarm, communications, plumbing and electrical systems.
In
addition to the building itself, the project includes various off-site
improvements, such as new public sidewalks and curbing, and five new street trees. Overall, the project strives to serve as a visual
amenity to the surrounding community, giving neighbors the opportunity to
experience world-class art and architecture on a daily basis.
