The new Olympic Swimming Pool in Tourcoing, on the Franco-Belgian boarder, occupies a strategic position in the city’s historic centre. The building opens out onto a ribbon of greenery to the South-West and to an esplanade to the South-East, whilst also being directly linked to the adjacent Water Leisure Centre by a covered walkway on the first floor.Taking formal reference from the keys of a Piano, the structure offers a language composed of a dynamic succession of syncopated volumes, allowing natural light to permeate into the interior space. The building envelope is constructed from anodised Aluminium panels, augmented with a pattern of perforations and embossed reliefs.
