The
clients at the offset said they were open to something drastic. With
their children out of the house and a love of entertaining,
the existing “country kitchen” no longer fit their lifestyle.
After some work and numerous meetings we presented something drastic.
One of the biggest goals for the project was to open up what was a
dark, isolated and dated kitchen to the dining and living room. We
did this by carving out an opening that wrapped around the corner and
terminated with a slot wide enough to see through while standing at
the sink. This keeps them connected but still hides any mess in the
kitchen. The idea of wrapping planes carries through from the
basement renovation that was completed prior to the kitchen
demolition and on to the next phase of the project where we tackle
the master suite.
