This is the project of renovation of a linear penthouse at the top of one of the highest buildings in Rio de Janeiro. The distribution of the clients' program was based on the project of the pool, on the corner with the most privileged view.
The living areas are oriented to the west, the services to the north, the rooms are oriented towards the best sun of the east facade and other intimate areas to the north, being these the main connector space between the other sectors.
The project, located at the Ipanema beach, was inspired by its privileged 360 degree views of the city of Rio de Janeiro and its main postcards, the beach, Christ the Redeemer, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and Dois Irmãos Mountain. It features spacious spaces filled with natural light.
The choice of finishings was made in a simplified way, using travertine marble, corten steel and plenty of wood. On the other hand, all the cabinet (wood work), carefully detailed, guarantees a striking design that gives identity to the project of the apartment. One of the highlights is the design of the screen made of corten steel and leather, which protects the entrance door and hall, giving more privacy to the living environment. The drawing of this partition screen is a tribute to the American artist Ellsworth Kelly.
The construction of the covered area of this penthouse occupies the center of the available total area, surrounded by tropical gardens. As Rio de Janeiro is a warm and sunny city, most of the circulation between rooms is made through the outdoor area and balconies. The interior corridors have become almost a service and staff circulation. The biggest challenge was to choose the best view, among all the great available to turn each specific area of the apartment.
