The existing building at the square “Olivaer Platz 2” was built at the beginning of the 20. century as a neoclassical residential and office building. The historical shape of the roof, which was destroyed during war, was supposed to be reconstructed under consideration of accentuating the special corner situation. The contemporary style of the new roof is a deliberate contrast to the existing façade of the historical building.
The façade of the roof consists of aluminium panels and glass windows. The new construction of the roof lies like a ship above the roofs of Berlin. The spacious segmentation of the apartments with residential spaces from 60 to 600 sqm has been adapted to current user requirements. For that a total of 20 residential units and 7 shop areas have been developed.
