The Old Indian Meeting House is the oldest Indian church remaining in Massachusetts.  Its tall hand hewn shouldered structural posts and the pegged mortise and tenon joinery may date from 1684.  With funding from the State, The Massachusetts Historic Commission and local Community Preservation Committee, The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has begun the process of renovation and preserving the Old Indian Meeting House.  In 2005, the structure was stabilized and a new foundation was poured under the building.  In 2007, work began on the exterior to restore the structure.  Plans continue today to renovate and restore the interior to its previous appearance so that it may again become part of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Tradition.
