The new house in the old center of Riggisberg, a small town in Switzerland, is a home of our time. Still, it takes up many elements of its surroundings and fits in quite naturally. Inside, wooden surfaces convey the sense of being in a comfy treasure chest. All the rooms are continuously arranged around an introverted core. The timber construction was built to meet highest energy-efficient building standards. Solar panels, a thermal heat pump, and comfort ventilation ensure a pleasant climate with minimal heat loss. All six apartments were designed to allow senior-friendly and accessible living.
