This compound was realized by Officine Michele Ansaldi and afterwards by FIAT, starting from the end of the 19th century. Further works have also been carried out throughout the years by designers, such as, Pietro Fenoglio and Giacomo Matt-Trucco. Industrial architecture, densely surrounded by residential buildings, was one of the Torino Internationale strategies to transform the city from industrial to modern (science, knowledge, technology, tourism, design). This topic is related to nomination of Torino for the World Design Capital 2008. The areal has one strong and important history but how far should we go in contemplating it like an architectural archeology and how long? One big debate in Torino in 2005. Should OGM be destroyed or maintained? The solution in this project was the particular maintenance of OGM buildings, only these objects which revert as an attribute in history and which interact with the future. The rest is a public space which has the potential to provide different types of leisure. The OGM has a structural and room dividing function and above the lefts of old fabric structure are the flexible residential structures, shops, design expo and offices, restaurants.. the new urbanity above old kinetic force of Torinese economy and life.
