FilmRise is an independent digital film production and distribution company founded in a brownstone in Park Slope. Rapid growth steered them to lease five thousand square feet of warehouse space in Industry City, a growing neighborhood overlooking New York Harbor and Manhattan. The company required the design and renovation to be budget driven. The century-old wood floors were restored to their original finish; original concrete floors were patched and polished. Partial height walls were installed to separate the workstations and maintain an open feel. Central to the space, the editing and conference rooms delineate the peripheral work space and the lounge area. A modern pantry hides restrooms and creates employee storage. The white painted walls reflect light and showcase art and movie posters. The cost efficient, minimalist design was achieved by preserving the industrial aesthetic, emphasizing the sweeping views and natural light, and incorporating a multi-functional concept to outline the floorplan.
