Blip.TV, LA
Blip.tv, a young revolutionary start-up, is dedicated to
pioneering the next generation of television network. Successful and lucrative,
the enterprise has expanded it’s operation into California, and launched its
new offices in the city of Santa Monica, Los Angeles. The offices are located
in the midst of a vibrant artistic neighborhood, surrounded with art galleries
and boutiques. The careful choice of location and interior-design had to be
distinctive, in order to fit well with Blip.tv’s innovative approach to
business, which aims to bring producers and audiences together, to educate and
entertain each other.
The architect, Delphine Mauroit, was asked renovate in 2
months a dark, reeking storehouse, and transform it into the stylish Chelsea-like
space it is today. Delphine took advantage of the industrial character of the
rooms, and utilized the concrete floors and metal façade. The result had to
provide much-needed light, and a sophisticated clean-cut disposition.
Extensive use of color white and an original lighting plan
illuminated the halls. Delphine made use of industrial metal pendant lamps,
white wall partitions and white doors to brighten the space. She further
constructed round windows to bring-in the outside light.
As the company is expanding and expected to hire in the near
future, a flexible desk area was required. For that reason, Delphine
constructed white built-in desk, that would allow a number of employees to work
simultaneously. The desks’ brackets were built-up into the walls to provide a
floating-like, minimalistic look, which complements the spacious design.
The furniture perfectly matches the overall arrangement:
white countertop and cabinets in the kitchen; modular sofa accompanied with
cubist tables in the reception area; glass & metal table with white &
metal chairs in the private meeting room; all contribute to a perfect
combination of colors light and style.
