Office Lab Complex A is the first of two schemes submitted for a design competition of the headquarters and research facilities of a large energy company in Hangzhou China. The proposed building seems
deceptively simple, yet the inside and outside layers of the façade interact
visually with one another in a complex manner. The building is envisioned as a
seamless whole, where the physical presence retreats and forms a sensuous
background for people, objects, activities, and landscapes. The layered structure produces a dynamic moiré effect that will
change from the pedestrian's point of view as they pass from one end of the 6
meter corridor to the other.
