For the Wortmann shoe holding company, as one of the biggest shoe producers of Europe, should be developed a new headquarter in Detmold, which also does justice to the continuous growth. Demanded are new offices, showrooms for the different brands of the shoe holding company, training rooms, event rooms and discussion rooms and a cafeteria as well as a Mall which provides adequate space to handing over of collections and fashion shows.
Architecture.
The new Headquarter of the Wortmann shoe holding company records the spatial limitation of the existing development with his construction and optimises through the construction the relation of surfaces to volumes and the energy balance. Concurrent is created an atrium usable all year round, which can be used for events, a mall as well as a climate buffer for internal rooms. The arrangement of the parts of the building around an atrium with galleries at the floor levels allows short ways between the departments as well as on the ground floor to the logistics without disturbing the expiry in the offices. The vertical development shall be effected by two lift blocks with every two lifts, a winding stair in the atrium and three escape stairwells. All areas accessible to visitors are accommodated in the ground floor: showrooms, training and event rooms and a café with terrace form a group with the inside facades round the Mall which brings together all shops like a marketplace. In three upper floors are the office jobs in open-space structures. They allow through high space efficiency working places in small or bigger groups, single offices or double offices as well as open and closed communication zones, also meeting rooms with glass walls or open meeting points with movable interior. In addition, at the third floor the management, bigger meeting rooms and the cafeteria with a terrace are planned for the employees. The basement of the eastern building harbours warehouses and technical rooms, which can be merge together at a later time with the second construction stage. The outside facade offers high transparency with his big glazed surfaces and receives by the so-called plumage a living structure which serves as a passive solar protection, integrates adequate ventilation and provides an individual ventilation for the employees.
