At the Corporate Campus in Apeldoorn (the Netherlands)
the relation between the buildings, the interior and the landscape is the main
focus of the project: ‘working in a green environment’. The office buildings have a very direct relationship with their green
environment as they are positioned on the edge of the forest.
To intensify this relationship the office buildings
have a specific typology was developed; the comb structure of the buildings
make them intertwine with the forest. In addition the continues horizontal
window strips provide a view on the trees from every position within the building.
As the office buildings have a brick
façade in varying earthy colors and and an average height of only 4 storeys
they are very well in balance with the forest.
The office buildings have a straight forward floor
plan, and are positioned on several locations on the campus. The repetition of
this floor plan set-up for all the office buildings reduced the overall building
costs, but within this repetition a difference in the amount of storeys, overall
building length, brickwork colour, orientation and interior of the building, creates
a variety within this family of office buildings.
The layout is designed to be very flexible for future
use. The comb structure of the building is easy to split up in separate units
to rent out individually. Each unit has its own entrance, staircases and
elevators to optimize this flexibility.
All kinds of workspaces, traditional and contemporary work concepts, can
be fit in. The current layout of the floor plans is very innovative, diverse
and open, but within the chosen grid, that is based on the parking garage
underneath the building, it is also possible to place walls on the traditional grid
of 1,80m².
