In an effort to maximize the green space within very tight site restraints and design requirements, BKA Architects incorporated the use of a large cantilevered second floor. Not only does the design provide a greater area at the second floor level, but it also provides shelter and landscape buffers as well as passive solar shading. The geometrical motif was used again at the roof level to create a dramatic building profile that shaded the second floor expanses of glass.
