ODORIKO – A Guest House Shaped by the Island Light
伊豆大島に残る旧其の丸旅館は、川端康成が筆をとったと伝えられる場所である。物語が生まれたこの空間に、新しい滞在の形を重ねることで、島の風土・歴史・光が、訪れる人の時間をゆっくりと編み直していく。
ODORIKO は、かつての商家建築がもつ強い構造と、
火山島特有の光の抜けを活かし、
“滞在そのものを豊かな体験へと変えるための家” として再構築された。
梁・土間・格子といった歴史のレイヤーを残しながら、宿泊と仕事、思索と対話が自然に混ざり合う。ここでは、過ごす時間そのものがゆっくりと輪郭を持ちはじめ、旅人はそれぞれの物語を静かに進めていく。
ODORIKO は、文学の記憶と島の時間が交差する、新しい“滞在のための舞台”である。
The old Sonomarutei Inn on Izu Ōshima is said to be a place where Yasunari Kawabata once wrote.
By layering a new form of stay onto this historic space—where a literary voice once emerged—
the island’s climate, history, and light slowly begin to reweave the time of those who visit.
ODORIKO is a reconstruction of a former merchant house,
using its strong timber structure and the distinct clarity of light unique to a volcanic island
to create a house where the act of staying becomes a rich experience in itself.
While preserving historical layers—beams, earthen floors, latticework—
the spaces for sleeping, working, thinking, and conversing blend naturally together.
Here, time itself gradually gains shape,
and each traveler quietly continues the story they carry.
ODORIKO is a new stage for staying,
where literary memory and the island’s time intersect.
