Odebrecht´s office space is located on the 8th floor of a 20 year old building containing ten small 800 sqft offices within each floor . After our client obtained the lease of the entire floor, their objective was clear: to create one only open space office environment to make happier employees and occupants while creating new strategies to save energy and resources, and therefore, lowering operating costs.
The building´s elevator core located within the open space is the start for an impactful reception that acts as the heart of the workplace. It features a custom made lighting fixture made out of one only translucent membrane bent into acrylic studs. It magically illuminates the entire space while being seamless for users and visitors. An interactive worldwide map lets visitors and employees to be proud of the corporate presence around the globe.
After this joyful start point, this core space splits into two main perimetral corridors. This allows users to be distributed efficiently on narrow circulation corridors and conducing them to different work areas. The design programme includes open and private offices for 43 occupants, and most of them will enjoy natural light as well as interesting sights of the city. Reception, meeting rooms, cafeteria, bathrooms, staff shower, server rooms, recycling containers, copy and supply rooms are strategically located on both wings to serve all users.
Color scheme applied on carpentry and floors creates a very subtle and quiet environment that reflects our client daily working behavior. The open space for most operative staff is well illuminated since all perimetral spaces use translucent divisions to let the users perceive continuous daylight development. Lightning objectives were accomplished in despite of Ecuador´s limited supply when searching for the adequate fixtures to meet LEED requirements.
Our client´s corporate policy required an open space for staff gatherings or corporate events. Since the space available was limited, the cafeteria located adjacent to the staff rest area can be transformed into one only space and receive the entire corporate community.
