This small urban infill apartment provides needed student housing within walking distance of Santa Barbara City College. Inspired by the work of Rudolph Schindler the structure steps down its sloping site to a common open space. The four masses acknowledge their distinct site positions of street, mid-slope and rear yard.
Limited by zoning to just two dwelling units, two stories in height and the requirement to park four automobiles on site, this project, with nine bedrooms, seven baths and two kitchens still manages to provide housing for eighteen students.
