Ocean County College wanted to centralize the student enrollment process in a single building, rather than across several buildings on campus. They wanted a welcoming, friendly environment that could streamline the enrollment process.
To accomplish this, DRG Architects worked closely with the College to design the Ocean County College Student Enrollment Center. The Center is an engaging, private, and low-stress environment for all students, whether they are registering for their first semester classes or preparing for graduation. The enrollment process is typically associated with standing in line and long waiting periods, so the Student Enrollment Center was designed to increase the comfort of waiting with queuing technology, soft seating, and outlets for charging devices. The Center’s tablet technology allows staff interactions to be portable and brings administrators into the student space; in many cases, the specialist meets the student in the lobby in “huddle areas” and eliminates unnecessary student travel.
The building is referred to as the HUB - One Stop Express Services that simplifies and consolidates all major student services into one efficient, convenient location. To meet the College’s goals for the building program, design, budget, and schedule, DRG Architects was required to communicate effectively with all college departments and facilities, as well as all levels of College staff. As a result of our successful collaboration, the new Center met the College’s program and design goals, was completed on time, and came in $1.1 million dollars under budget.
