In the heart of bustling Kozhikode, where the rhythm of life beats steadily, lies an oasis of beauty and tranquility. We envision a social plug-in where old roots meet new shoots in a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
Central to our design idea is the creation of a compassionate environment, where every space, from the gardens to the corridors, exudes warmth and tranquility. Nature takes the prime seat in our organic blend of spaces, offering solace and serenity to all the users. From lush gardens to open courtyards, every corner of the campus is designed to evoke a sense of serenity, offering solace and rejuvenation to patients, families, and staff alike.
The proposal breaks away from the conventional idea of arranging programmatic requirements , instead embracing a more holistic approach to design and healing. Here, spaces are interwoven, vantage points along the spine offering glimpses within and across, fostering a sense of connection and unity. The design integrates with existing structures, weaving a narrative of continuity and renewal.
Pause points are strategically placed throughout the campus, inviting moments of reflection and contemplation. Meanwhile, a transformative corridor weaves its way through the institute, connecting people and spaces in a seamless flow of movement and interaction.
User engagement is at the forefront of this design proposal. The street isn't just a thoroughfare; it's a canvas for interaction and connection. Built enclosures double as exhibition spaces, while corridors transform into a vibrant carnival street, alive with laughter and festivities. This corridor serves as a metaphor for our approach to design and healing, navigating the intersection of architecture and palliative medicine with grace and purpose. This celebration of life serves as a reminder that joy and compassion are integral components of the healing journey, and that fostering a sense of community is essential to holistic care.
Imagine strolling down a long street, guided by a gentle diagonal pull that beckons you to explore its depths. This intentional design element isn't just about aesthetics; it's a strategic move to drive activity throughout the entire stretch. As you traverse this palliative precinct, you're struck by the seamless integration of old and new. Existing buildings blend effortlessly with contemporary structures, erasing the lines of division and fostering a sense of unity and belonging.
All the built enclosures are designed as free standing pavilions with landscape breaks in between. Cross ventilation ensures fresh air circulates freely, promoting well-being and vitality. The covered walkway makes every place accessible during all times of the year. Compact yet thoughtfully designed spaces offer a sense of intimacy and warmth, inviting you to pause and linger awhile.
Sloped roofs and singular plinths define the extent of built and unbuilt spaces. Wheelchair-friendly ramps and pedestrian-friendly pathways ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can navigate this space with ease and dignity. Light and shadow dance playfully across facades, creating a dynamic interplay of textures and tones. Sufficient shaded areas provide respite from the sun's glare, offering spaces for relaxation and contemplation. This project goes beyond mere physical comfort; it's about nurturing the soul.
