Located in Carilo, three hours southeast of Buenos Aires, Oasis house is a weekend home for a family of four that transcends ordinary domestic programming to create a place of spiritual resonance, orienting and heightening one's experience of the surrounding environment. Through its sitting, massing, tectonics and materiality, it balances intimacy and expansiveness, light and dark, land and sky.
The flexibility of a hand resting on the ground was the starting point. The location of each finger was studied carefully to adapt to the environment and thus preserve each pine, poplar and acacia. This leaded to a collection of distinct volumes, enjoying natural light and ventilation, each serving its own functions. The glass corridors make the limit between the forest and the house disappear. Interior space in constant change becomes alive.
In the calmed spaces such as bedrooms, living room and kitchen, the climate cannot penetrate so directly, inviting to cozy spaces with a private atmosphere referring to the ancient caverns.
The interior was coated with recycled wood that was used for the construction fence reducing construction waste, and on the outside, materials such as cement-board siding, aluminum windows, and a steel roof comprise a durable and low-maintenance building envelope. The house is naturally acclimatized, the walls of 40 cm thick, and the glasses with air chamber and technology of refractory metal particles films generate an excellent insulation
A large circular water reservoir was designed, which collects rainwater for later use in domestic and irrigation applications. In summer, the reservoir is transformed into a swimming pool for children and throughout the year it nourishes the local fauna with water. Several kinds of birds, lizards, rodents and even little foxes come to drink water or just take a bath. The forest appropriates the reservoir, enhancing the fusion between the house, the inhabitants, the animals and the woods.
Three pines coincided with the location of the pool, so a large structure boat shaped was designed to penetrate the pool. . The architecture and nature merge transforming the three trees into the masts of a sailboat floating in the pool.
