In the city Herford a new nursing home (approx. 7,500m2) with 80 care places and additional 45 places for dementia sick person is planned in central situation near the city centre, next to the river Werre, on a fallow plot. This plot lies directly on the former wall between river and Salzufler Straße. To the water a public café with partly covered terrace and direct access is planned by the Werreufer. The building exists of three not at right angles sticking together parts of the building which arrange themselves radially around a multi-storey airspace with entrance hall and internal development. In the parts of the building there are the separated residential groups with kitchen and lounge areas, which form a group together with the common rooms round an inner courtyard which cares for exposure and ventilation. In the third upper floor is a roof garden which should be used by the inhabitants as a dementia garde. Technology, storerooms and other service rooms are accommodated in a storey. In the ground floor are beside receipt and management still a collectively used restaurant as well as a chimney room, library, kiosk and hairdresser. The location is connected with a bus stop in front of the door directly to the public local traffic. The city centre is to be reached within only five minutes by foot. The river and the wall offer beside the Stiftberg enough possibilities for walks and stays in the nature.
