The new building for the IAAD (Institute of Design and Applied Art) is the first completed lot of the Cloud project, the transformation of the Via Bologna area with the new Lavazza Headquarters.
PICCO architetti, together with Cino Zucchi Architetti, has handled the restoration and revitalization project of the 19th century building on Via Pisa and that of the surrounding new pedestrian area.
The design process has paid particular attention to the structural and formal values of the existing building: the classrooms, the workshops and the school offices renew the identity of a building whose historical characteristics live in harmony with the urban fabric.
The first section of Via Pisa has been transformed into a new pedestrian pathway, featuring trees, benches, LED lighting and wi-fi connection. A new public space dimension for the first smart street in the city.
