The project
issues from the needing to realize a new seat for People Care Special Services
Agency of the Commons’ Union of Copparo area. Patrimonio Copparo S.r.l. Company,
locates in the previous Police Court’s building, the correct space for the
activities made by the a.m. Agency, up to now organized in several different
buildings strewed on the municipal territory. In the same time, the project takes
the opportunity to complete a building, whose re-developing started in the
middle of 80’s and it was never carried out, because of funds transfer from the
Ministry of Justice. This building, after several years of neglecting and
demeaning, was partially recovered for the appointment of the local Judge
of Peace seat and for the Municipal Police one. The remaining spaces, never
completed, have been used for a long time as storehouse.
The
building shows the typical characteristics of the Police Courts, built up all
around Italy
during the 80’s. The piers structure and the predalles floor, symmetrical
perimetric fronts plugged up with preengineered made by quarry face bricks or
dressed tile walls, monumental hall with a continued glazed front. Inside,
several calcined gypsum or tile walls, generated a central block designed by
blind filing rooms and warehouses, while all around the perimeter found space a
large number of rooms, used for the various activities carried out from the
police court.
The
redeveloping and completing project springs first of all from the will to
recover the whole building, rearranging the different activities carried out
from the present offices. The small resources at disposal, suggested a
re-definition of the entrances and the inner re-distribution through the
staving in of the central block assigned to storehouses. This suggests also the
use of few row materials like cement, glass, polycarbonate and wood that reduce
the total cost of the intervention. The areas assigned to the various
activities will be re-defined, using the entrance on the main street realized
in the previous years, equipped with ramps for disabled and lift room, deleting
most of the internal walls in order to insert a polycarobonate cube that
acts as central distribution element and light source for the building core.
Around it, all the activities grouped inside the building are carried out. In
this way the activities are redefined and re-distributed in order to organize
the working spaces. The new offices, arranged around the perimeter are equipped
with glazed frames, that diffuse the external light and picks it up from the
central core.
