The project is located in the heart of Xi’an High‑Tech Development Zone, within a former industrial area now surrounded by emerging residential and office clusters. This evolving context provides a substantial and growing consumer base, offering strong potential for sustained urban vitality. In alignment with Xi’an’s urban renewal initiative, the project envisions a new‑generation landmark—green, ecological, energy‑efficient, and environmentally responsible—revitalizing the aging industrial fabric and establishing a future cultural hub for the district.
“One-Kilometer Street”
The significance of an urban place lies not in its form, scale, or height, but in the density of its vitality and its authentic expression of urban spirit. Only spaces infused with life can endure—integrating with the city, harmonizing with the neighborhood, staying close to nature, and growing alongside everyday life.
The design introduces a “one‑kilometer street” folded into the architecture, allowing the building to take root and grow outward. This creates an open and inclusive public realm, shaping a human‑scaled street that integrates a diversity of urban experiences. As it unfolds along the urban frontage, the “street” becomes a sequence of terraces—an extension of the interior into the urban fabric—where work, leisure, and daily interactions occur seamlessly. In this continuum, the building transcends the cold logic of a mere “efficiency container,” becoming a living place—one that prioritizes human experience and evolves over time.
A continuous system of outdoor terraces wraps the main building in a clockwise ascent. In the morning, the east-facing terraces align with the sun’s path and capture abundant sunlight; in the afternoon, the west-facing cantilevered terraces provide shade, mitigating prolonged exposure to the western sun. Together, these terraces form a dynamic environmental envelope that improves thermal comfort while enriching the building’s experience.
