Nunu House is a combination of modern Tropical housing and local modern architectural form.
The space has its unique features and still preserves the traditional lifestyle of the local people.
The house with a tiled roof, on the steps, under the eaves... is the harmony of climate and people in the central region full of sunshine and wind.
The house is located in a small town in central Vietnam, a land famous for its sun and wind.
This living space is designed for a small family with the desire to create a living space close to nature and suitable for the harsh local climate.
The climate here, although there are 4 seasons, is still mainly 2 seasons:
The Summer climate is dry and hot with the southwesterly wind (Lao's wind). Winter is very cold due to the northeast monsoon.
Therefore, the architecture needs to be airy enough to cool in summer, and closed enough to keep heat in winter!
This conundrum is cleverly solved by using the atrium as a buffer space, balancing the heat in the middle of the house.
Floor vents need to be just enough for air convection but without strong drafts.
In addition, the front and rear porches are also designed with green areas combined as a buffer for effective balance.
The floor plan of the house is designed in the following way: Front house - Rear house. With the dynamic block in the front - the static block in the back.
The inter-room walkway around the house creates ventilation, common functions are arranged continuously & maximum comfort.
On the other hand, the auxiliary space is clustered and discreet, in line with local usage habits.
The facade of the house uses local materials with a unique shape combination, making the overall architecture of the house look more different when viewed from the outside.
Only with a basket of Stone-Wood-Iron, the layout and separation of the facade create a unique feature for Nunu House.
Facade proportions are cleverly considered, accented with arrays of materials and blocks. The architecture is not too sophisticated but unique.
Although the area is limited, the design of Nunu House connects the house and the gardens as a green solution and effective climate control.
Making the people living inside no longer feel like a cramped townhouse but like a green resort.
