Religion has in many ways shaped the world we live in, and differences within religion have sometimes contributed to conflict in human history, however I believe that if there was more understanding across different faiths this could remove the possibility of this kind of conflict occurring and removes stereotypes; this lead me to designing an Interfaith Centre. The site being situated in a hub away from the Nottingham city centre, hosting people of many different religions was an ideal location. My research into religion's architecture revealed that an interesting use of light was common between all faiths. Light within all the faiths is seen as something divine, as if it suggests the presence of a deity. I developed the building as a community centre, in terms of function, and included links to the adjacent library; the building would also hold debates and conferences on religious issues and would also feature a chapel for personal reflection and prayer.
