Not Too Old
This study is a reaction on the ageing population.
The proposal is a rich environment for the housing of our
senior citizens. The design offers a wide variety of high quality facilities,
like restaurants, cafe's, jeux de boulles fields, a swimming pool and other
sport fields together with a large number of highly efficient housing units. The design exists of a shell of apartments over 9 floors, with in the core of the building the public facilities. Through larges voids and penetrations in the shell the public program is visible in its context.Because of a different daily-routine of senior citizens
and other age groups the facilities can be shared. Making the facilities more
profitable and efficient. While giving the financial possibilities to make them
more qualitative. Yet the senior citizens can benefit from other age groups
coming to their complex, in staying in contact with society. We don't believe
in 'gated communities' for our
senior citizens, we prefer to keep them involved with modern society.
