Norton Brownsboro Hospital is new community hospital designed using best practices described in the Green Guide for Health CareTM in order to integrate enhanced environmental and health principles into the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of the hospital.
The five-story freestanding community hospital designed to expand to 127 beds. It includes significant diagnostic and treatment areas for outpatient care, and a 16-bed intensive care unit with family overnight sleep rooms and an emergency department.
Large, private rooms will be found throughout the hospital to provide extra space for family and visitor convenience. Similarly, the contemporary design of patient care areas allows for optimal interaction between hospital staff, patients, and family members.
In addition to patient/family comfort and amenities, access to daylight and strong wayfinding elements were drivers for the hospital’s design. A linear gallery connects the main entrance with emergency and outpatient surgery on the floor above, while an internal sky-lit courtyard is the focal point for the upper patient floors. The second floor roof features an 8,700 sf courtyard with an exterior garden that provides an area for respite.
