The DCPL Northeast Neighborhood Library, which first opened in 1932, is the fourth-oldest DC Public Library building still in operation. The renovated building completed in February 2014 now features state-of-the-art technology and highlights the architectural elements of the Georgian Revival building.
BELL Architects completed the exterior renovation in 2010 and in February of 2014, finished the LEED Silver interior renovations and addition. (The interior project was completed in association with Vines Architecture.) Improvements made in the renovation include: restored original wood furnishings; new plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems; improved lighting; increased space for library programs; dedicated space for teens and new quiet study rooms. This project successfully displays the balance between incorporating modern systems and preserving historic spaces. Northeast Neighborhood Library is located at 330 7th St NE, Washington, DC.
