North City Pure Water Facility will treat and purify wastewater to supplement the City’s drinking water supply. Once operational, the new plant will have a production capacity of up to 34MGD. MWA was responsible for providing design guidelines for all buildings at the plant, as well as the design of the Operations & Maintenance facility. The 33,000 sf O&M facility will contain administration offices, a plant control room, maintenance shop, staff locker and break rooms, a 7,000 sf water quality laboratory, a public interpretive lobby, and an entry ramp and water feature. The facility is designed to be certified LEED Silver.
The double height public interpretive lobby provides a welcoming face for visitors to the campus, with ample daylight, historical exhibits, and informational displays. It also serves as a public interface with the water quality lab staff and operations.
