We at Nomad Cabins are excited to share our recent collaboration with IKEA on our innovative project, Cabin N – a prefab, eco-oriented portable home that embodies sustainability through its timber structure and straw insulation.
About Nomad Cabins and Cabin N:
At the heart of Nomad Cabins is the creative vision of three young architects: Nina Manchorova, Toska Kalinova, and Vladimir Enchev. Our partnership with IKEA has been instrumental in realizing Cabin N, leveraging their expertise in crafting functional living spaces. This collaboration culminated in a month-long showcase at IKEA's Sofia storefront, drawing an international audience from Greece, Serbia, Romania, Germany, and Switzerland, among others.
Furthering our commitment to sustainability, we've partnered with EcoCocon, utilizing their wall panel system made from 98% natural renewable materials. The combination of timber and 30cm compressed straw for thermal insulation aligns with passive house standards and fosters a healthy indoor microclimate. This design ensures even temperatures throughout the seasons and is vapor-permeable, eliminating concerns of draught or mold.
Contributors to the Project:
Cabin N's journey from concept to reality was made possible thanks to the support of our partners: IKEA, EcoCocon, JAF, Gramitherm, LunaWood, Schüco Alukönigstahl, Velux, Lindab, Rothoblaas.
