This domestic interior in the NOHO area of NYC provided the Lab a multitude of design challenges and approaches to the design of domesticity. This duplex loft for a family of four presented the typical NYC problem: a of lack of storage. The solution was to present storage as an object in space and in a oblique wall condition. This places the body in a position as a participant and observer within space and time. Innovative materials and new spatial constructs were introduced into the design. The casework was fabricated out of a new type of sustainable bamboo plywood and panelite translucent panels were used to separate spatial conditions throughout.
