The Noble House is a new vision for seniors’ living in the city. Situated in the vibrant and growing East Village of downtown Calgary, its location attracts residents and visitors that desire to be part of the city’s arts and culture energy. Set amongst Calgary’s new public library and the New Music Centre, the architecture and programme aim to achieve much more than the typical residential tower.
A main feature of the building’s form lies at the second level. The dramatic scalloped glass atrium overlooks the street and houses the building’s Social Club. This is where residents and club-members mix, share and learn. It houses world class amenities including an expansive lounge, lecture area, business centre, studio space and a fitness center. All of these are set within the light- and tree -filled Club level and connected to the ground-level restaurant which activates the street. The Social Club, which all residents are automatically members of, is derived from the projects’ goals of “optimization, socialization, and actualization”, intended to empower the golden age and provide community to its inhabitants and the surrounding neighbourhood.
