Office Feuerman presents Nightlight, a filmic
installation presented as part of Expanded Architecture and the Sydney Architecture
Festival.
Inspired by the way natural light penetrates
the interior space of the CarriageWorks, “Nightlight” takes an everyday
sequence— the changing nature of light over time—and makes it visible in the
dark.
Light formations sampled from a splice of
time, every five minutes over the course of one day, are superimposed on the
surfaces of the industrial space.
The projection, slowly crossing the floor,
tracing the pattern of light across the Carriageworks space, will in some ways
seem a familiar sensory experience; a “normal” environmental condition
artificially imposed during the darkness of night.
Expanded Architecture 2011 is a
collaborative, site-specific installation of moving images by architects,
artists and film makers. Office Feuerman was selected amongst twelve other
artists (seven collaborative teams and five individuals) to present
projection-only installations responding to the foyer of CarriageWorks, or its
immediate urban context.Location:
