A young couple purchased an un-modernised semi-detached Arts and Crafts-style home 'between the Commons' to create a new family home in a conservation area.
Keen on both the original features of the house and the textural quality of board-formed concrete and the refinement of smooth HPL formwork, we envisioned a folding plane of concrete that wrapped up, down, and over to sculpt a new kitchen and living area with a rough, hand-made exterior and and clean, orderly interior. A double helping of concrete.
This exciting concept actually draws upon the traditions of Arts and Crafts to create a modern, hand-crafted extension that refers to it's host structure through the construction process whilst presenting an unapologetic of-its-time design.
