The project is aimed to create an open space and a sustainable building which could eliminate borders. Almost a half of area located near the park of Newark river is planned to be a mini-park of artificial hills and walking paths for pedestrians. NewarkVisitorCenter is located on the other half of area with an ambition to creat a remarkable urban construction with specific apprearance. The project would be a freestyle-shaped building, spotted by its material including glass, steel, and alloy. A new architecture style would impress and attract the visitors partly because of the “architectural language” opposition between the building and other existing construction. From every direction – inside or outside, visitors could feel the versatile and transparent space without limitation. This characteristic makes a perspective unification.
Main elements which contribute to the building structure include: bulk of using, lawn, plants, water, green-roof session, empty space. The Roof session is inspired by concept study following architectural folding method. Visitors could access to the building downward from the roof which is filled with plants.
Open space located in area 1.5 – second floor is the heart of NVC which connect main entrances for visitors to approach the building: stairway from first floor’s public zone; gradient from roof’s utility zone, overhead pedestrian bridge ( link to the adjacent parking area – overhead the main highway).
The future appearance of NVC in this project would be a huge living sculpture of light, mind-opening and a range of new configurations.
