From the New York City Ballet: "... For the 2012-2013 season, New York City Ballet unveiled 21/20: On The Promenade, a new initiative to bring contemporary, New York-based furniture designers into the Theater to create seating collections for the iconic “jewel box” of the David H. Koch Theater.
The three design firms, Asher Isrealow, Egg Collective, and Token, took their inspiration from the architecture of the Philip Johnson-designed building and New York City Ballet’s innovative repertory, creating pieces that showcase the intersection between design and dance. This project is a testament to New York City Ballet’s enduring philosophy of supporting the creation of new work, as well as the Company’s deep connection and love of New York City and the many great artists that create work here.
