QA was commissioned to design the new corporate headquarters for New Relic, the fast-growing industry leader in Data Analytics for App Monitoring. To provide various teams access to constantly variable information throughout the day, we designed a custom, continuous soffit system running around the perimeter of the building core, housing monitors displaying application analysis information and sales performance in real-time. The framework allows for the addition or relocation of monitors to accommodate the movement of teams or entire departments. Private offices were located adjacent to the core so that open office areas are afforded access to the window line for light and views. Custom Open Collaborative Areas are located in the floor’s corners for quick informal meetings and impromptu mini-workstations for staff visiting other departments. The most dynamic space within the four full floors of offices is the large Café and All Hands Area that accommodates informal meetings, all-office presentations, and interactive interoffice social functions.
The palette for New Relic was derived from the image invoked by its name- the juxtaposition of old and new, modern and decayed. Using reclaimed old growth elm, the wood is mingled amongst flamed steel walls, perforated metal panels and colorful furniture to create a warm, lively, and inviting work place.
