The new Parkland Hospital project is a $1.27 billion healthcare campus that includes replacing the existing 60-year-old Parkland Memorial Hospital. The new hospital is distinctly about the Medical Center’s relevance and importance as a civic anchor, and its connectivity to the city’s Urban Fabric. The project seeks to respect the multicultural aspects of the Dallas community, create connections within the district, and embrace the legacy of the past. The design incorporates the best in evidence based design principles to enhance the patient and family centered care model. The almost 2.1 million square foot building is humanized by a manipulation of the parts to address the scale at multiple levels. As one of the largest public hospitals in the country, more than 30,000 people will pass through the doors on the new
hospital each day and more than 140,000 patients will be treated annually in the new Emergency Department.
