This handmade sculptural abstracted map of New Orleans is permanently installed in an art gallery and bar. Giving homage to geography, history, and iconic architecture, the sculpture splits the city into its historic wards and lights the boundaries between them. Made from reclaimed wood, metal, light, and translucent Mardi Gras beads, the piece celebrates our unique street patterns and water boundaries. One central ward panel uses punched metal, lit from behind, and highlights the historic avenue the gallery is helping revitalize. The Superdome is brightly lit to orient patrons, while the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain are subtly backlit beads.
