The assignment entails a new office for the fast-growing IT law company ICTRecht. The challenge was to create an interior with character within the constraints of a rented office floor. The office floor on the third level has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river IJ in Amsterdam.

Knevel Architecten developed a programmatic core which forms the backbone of the 520sqm floor. The core is designed as a solid element with yellow excavations and contains functions such as the emergency staircase, storages, copy rooms, a pantry and a kitchen. But also spaces, such as a telephone booth, a lobby and an informal workspace designed as a picnic table. This makes the core not only a functional backbone for the office, but it also serves a spatial connection.

Around the core the offices, meeting rooms and lunchroom are placed. The glass partition walls form a sound buffer but do allow daylight to reach deep within the office floor. This daylight, together with the green walls and the oak cladding give the office a natural atmosphere.
