JDA in-conjunction with Loop Architects researched and designed a master plan for new city development adjacent to Bengbu, a city lying mid- way between Beijing and Shanghai in Jiangqiao Province. A detailed government brief was translated into 1200 new dwellings, town centre and light industrial region. New village settlements were included with schools, hospital and local amenities. The site was landscaped and master planned to take advantage of river and hills on the site. A natural and sustainable blue print was set out and visualized introducing international modern standards. Transport and road system was integrated into new plan and local authority and planning approval was granted. The land changed ownership and to this day the scheme has not been built.
