Nest House is a +/-2700 square foot house in Los Angeles, CA. It is an extensive remodel and addition to an existing 1940’s bungalow.
The extraordinary sycamore tree in the back with a canopy that covers the entire area of the property, created a unique opportunity for a design that embraces this magnificent element.
The house was designed with a strong axis from the street to the back. This open and transparent corridor created an unobstructed view from the street to the sycamore tree. The axis is also preserved on the second floor creating a full-height window looking into the tree from above, and continues to the roof where it breaks the building roofline, framing the tree’s canopy at the roof level.
The interior of the house was meticulously designed and detailed to create thoughtful spaces and a joyful living experience.
