In the sea of concrete, Nau landed the air of Northeast coast.
When the restaurant Nau landed in the Federal Capital, in the second half of 2013, landed near the lakeParanoá elements that make references of Paraiba coast. The project not ignored, however, the sea of concrete that surrounds the institutional architecture of the city. So began a project with a complex mission: to harmonize the presence of the sea within the Brasilia concreteness.
The architect Sandra Moura, who signs the project, had been happy in the composition of remarkable structure of Mangai, restaurant of the same family ofNau restaurant, both headquartered in João Pessoa, capital of Paraíba. Sandra Moura decided then to join the two structures.
This union is not metaphorical. Nau and Mangai occupy contiguous lots and are only ten meters away, tied conceptually.
This junction is materialized especially through an element in particular: corten steel, which Sandra Moura had appealed to take elements of Mangai and now covers almost all of the facades, adding the vertical and horizontal planes the exposed concrete, which forms the second facade.
Inspired in the palm leaf figure (common in the Brazilian hinterland flora), the corten steel harmonizes with the dominant concrete in Brasilia. "We created a dialogue between the corten steel structure and concrete, balancing with different materials," says the architect.
The unitNauin Brasilia- the matrix was founded in 2010 in João Pessoa - occupies more than 7 thousand square meters of floor space, divided over three floors. Downstairs are the main hall, the kitchen and supportive areas. In the basement are parking and technical equipment. And the top floor houses the mezzanine and event area.
Despite being next to the Paranoá lake (both restaurants are located in Sector-Sul Sports Club, near the bridge JK), the architect launches extra dose of freshness, as opposed to the dry climate of Brasilia, with the creation of a lake separating the restaurant of a wooden platform and galvanized steel which accesses the two restaurants, inviting customers to visit the two structures(Mangai and Nau).
References to the marine environment - that is present on the menu - make up the special arrangement that can be viewed in the cellar (where two large tables in shaped of raft with glazed tops) and also the wooden blades along the window, which have shaped of hatches. "We've turned the trip to the restaurant in a real nautical trip," says the architect.
The gastronomic proposal of Nau are still present on the wall that simulate fish scales and also in the lighting project developed by Peter Gasper launching metal vapor in green, blue and white colors on the income of the facade, reaching the liner gypsum hall.
"With this concept, the Nau arrives in Brasilia with the intention of taking the Brazilian capital a bit of cuisine, culture and references of life on the coast," concludes Sandra Moura.
